Craving to savour something sweet in this sizzling summer?
I got you!
On my 4th birthday, my grandma made this mouthwatering ‘gram flour halwa’. Ever since it has become a habit in our family to make this quick halwa on every special occasion.
Now let’s make it!
Ingredients needed:
- Gram flour or besan - 100g
- Sugar – 100g
- Ghee – 5-8 teaspoons
- Cashew nuts and crushed elaichi
Procedure:
- Boil 200ml of water and keep it aside.
- Preheat a pan, add three teaspoons of ghee and shallow fry a few cashew nuts.
- Transfer the fried nuts to a separate vessel and add five more teaspoons of ghee to the same pan.
- Now, add 100g of gram flour or besan to the ghee. Gently fry the flour till it becomes light brown in colour.
- A rich aroma escapes from it which is an indicator to add the necessary boiled water little by little.
- Keep stirring the semi-solid dough in low flame the whole time to avoid formation of lumps.
- Once the dough thickens, add 100g (the same amount as the flour) of sugar and blend them well. {You can change the quantity of sugar as per your requirement}
- Garnish by adding the fried cashew nuts and crushed elaichi as toppings.
Your spongy gram flour halwa is now ready to devour! Enjoy!
